The safest airlines in the world
Based on the JACDEC (the Germany’s Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre) Safety Index Aero International, a German aviation magazine, has made a list of the world`s safest airlines. The list consists of 60 airlines. The Safety Index counts the traffic volume, the number of crashes and victims. It also takes into account the date when an airline was founded and how long its planes haven`t crashed.
Nine airlines that have had no crash
| Airlines | Years without fatal events | The amount of crashes | The date of foundation | |
| 1 | Qantas Airways | 35 | 0 | 1922 |
| 2 | Finnair | 35 | 0 | 1923 |
| 3 | Cathay Pacific | 35 | 0 | 1946 |
| 4 | El Al | 35 | 0 | 1948 |
| 5 | All Nippon Airways | 35 | 0 | 1953 |
| 6 | Air Berlin | 29 | 0 | 1979 |
| 7 | Virgin Atlantic Airways | 24 | 0 | 1984 |
| 8 | Ryanair | 23 | 0 | 1985 |

The oldest Russian airline founded in 1922 Aeroflot Airlines ranks the 49th position in the list. It has had no crashes for six years and since its foundation there were ten air accidents.
Airlines that have had no aircraft crashes since 1973 head the list. Quantas Airways, an Australian air carrier, is at the top. Its accident-free flying period covers 35 years.

Most airlines in the list are American or European but here you may also find some large Asian and Middle East air carriers that usually head the world`s Airline Service Quality Rating.
Airlines in Asian and Pacific Region, Latin America and Africa are reputed to be the world`s most unsafe airlines with the high fatal rate. They account for 80% of the world`s total number of air crashes. Specialists say that the main reason is not only obsolete airplanes but also safety norm violations that are met much more rarely in Europe and North American countries.
At the same time most aircraft accidents in North America happened because of the overload of the local airports. It causes plane collisions on the taxi tracks that fortunately usually have no victims.
Flight strips of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and New York John F Kennedy Airport are in top 10 world`s most dangerous air-trips. Ronald Reagan Washington national Airport is near the strategic state location so pilots have to do their best in order to keep the narrow air-corridor at the takeoff and landing. The sky above New York John F Kennedy Airport is also overcrowded because of near location of two more airports. That is why the distance between planes often reaches 50—100 meters that is considered to be critical.
Aeroflot is the only Russian airline presented in the safety list, its rate is 0,57. Aero International has counted only the period since 1992 when the main and choiceless air carrier transferred to an independent airline. The authors of the rating note that flying by Russian airlines has become safer for recent years. Now main Russian air carrier take part in many international ratings, pay much more attention to the flight safety and exploit mostly planes produced in West.
